Artisan Leather Repair & Restoration

Artisan Leather Repair & Restoration

I offer professional repair and restoration for well-constructed leather goods, including handbags, straps, belts, and accessories. With nearly two decades of experience working with premium materials and complex construction, repairs are performed with the same care and techniques used in custom leatherwork.

Because every piece is unique, work is accepted on a limited basis.

Photo Assessment Required

Please send clear photos of your item before requesting an in-person appointment.

Most repairs can be evaluated from images, which helps determine whether the piece is a good fit for my studio and avoids unnecessary travel.

Include:

• Overall view of the item
• Close-ups of the damaged area
• Any areas of concern
• A brief description of the issue

Photos can be sent via text or email.

Services Offered

Typical repair and restoration services include:

• Hand stitching and seam repair
• Strap and handle reinforcement
• Edge finishing and edge paint repair
• Zipper replacement
• Hardware reattachment
• Cleaning and conditioning
• Structural reinforcement
• General maintenance for quality leather goods

If you are unsure whether your item can be repaired, feel free to send photos for review.

Complex projects, specialty materials, or luxury items may require a custom quote.

Quality Standards

I specialize in repairing well-made leather goods designed for long-term use.

Repair is often worthwhile when the item has:

• Thick, durable leather
• Quality construction
• Sentimental or replacement value
• Professional or luxury craftsmanship

Items Not Accepted

To ensure the best results, I generally do not repair:

• Bonded leather, heavily peeling finishes, or deteriorated low-grade materials
• Faux leather or vinyl
• Mass-produced fast-fashion items
• Items where repair may not be practical relative to the quality or condition of the piece
• Severely deteriorated materials

If you are unsure, photos are the best way to determine suitability.

Turnaround Time

Turnaround varies depending on the scope of work and current studio schedule. Repairs are completed in the order accepted unless otherwise arranged.

If your repair is time-sensitive, please mention this when submitting photos.

Why Choose Artisan Repair?

Unlike high-volume repair shops, work is performed individually with attention to structural integrity, durability, and appearance. The goal is not simply to “patch” an item, but to extend its usable life while preserving its character.

Many clients seek repair because the item cannot be easily replaced — whether due to quality, age, or personal significance.

Mail-In Repair & Restoration Services

Out-of-state repair and restoration services are available on a limited basis for select leather goods including jackets, handbags, briefcases, accessories, and specialty items.

To begin the consultation process, please email:

• Clear photographs of the item
• Close-up photos of damaged areas
• A brief description of the repair or restoration needed
• Any concerns or desired outcome

After review, you will receive an estimated price range and shipping instructions if the project is accepted.

Please note:

• Final pricing is confirmed after physical inspection
• Return shipping, insurance, and signature confirmation are billed separately
• Not all projects are accepted
