Custom Designed Sheepskin Leather Shorts & Matching Crop Style Heaven Halter Top
Emily contacted me inquiring about having a custom leather vest with matching shorts made for her for an upcoming event. Her original request was for me to make the fringe on my Kyra Booty Shorts longer. Even though the time frame was short, for the shorts, we opted to create a brand new design made especially for her. And for the halter, we decided to alter the design of my Heaven Halter to match.
Along with her measurements, Emily sent me her special requests, such as the length she wanted the shorts and how much skin on the side of her leg she wished to expose. I immediately began the design process sending her a rough illustration of what I was envisioning. I also emailed to her photographs of some of the different types of leather that would work for her designs.
Once Emily approved of the designs and chose the leather we would use for her outfit, I could get started with the making of her two custom pieces. To create the patterns for this project, I opted to go with a draping technique using muslin fabric and a dress form, transferring the pieces of fabric on to paper for my flat patter. To test my patterns, I created muslin prototypes. And....Success!!
Typically, I will send my client the prototypes for an online fitting but because of the deadline for this project, there wasn't any time. In order to meet her deadline, I went ahead and cut the patterns from the leather. This is something I never do, however I felt extremely confident that the two pieces would fit her perfectly.
