◘ K U E N D E ◘ [growth; evolution]

KUENDE is a Swahili name meaning growth and evolution. In case you're wondering, I do not speak the language. I had to look it up as I do all the names I choose for my leather pieces. Each piece has come to me during particular periods in my life, so I feel each should have their very own identity. Thank God for Google.

The design for KUENDE came to me during a time where I was painfully evolving, experiencing events in my life which had the power to destroy my psyche or strengthen me.  A time where the person I was, was no longer but the person I was destined to be, was still not quite ready to take her role. I knew I needed to learn from these times in order to grow and step into my purpose and destiny so I kept on moving forward waiting for the lessons to come and go. I designed KUENDE while I was waiting.

I chose the beads used in KUENDE for their metaphysical properties as a personal reminder to a connection with a power much greater than I.  African Turquoise ~ brings balance, confidence & reassurance. They awaken the soul to the new, and renew the spirit on your path to your higher purpose. I coupled the African Turquoise with beautiful Carnelian stones ~ a semi-precious stone which calm fears and brings serenity, wholeness, and acceptance of the great cycle of life.  Carnelians help to increase courage, boost creativity and compassion.  Combined these two stones are a perfect marriage; of color, texture, shape, size, and spirit.

These days, my KUENDE is on my wrist every day whether it matches my outfit or not. I love the way it feels. I love the way it looks. I love what it symbolizes. Mostly, I love what it stands for in my life. I'm going to step out on a limb and say it's the best bracelet I have ever designed.
